Bonners Ferry Phase 1 Water System Improvements

Bonners Ferry, Idaho

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Welch Comer Engineers prepared a water system master plan for the city of Bonners Ferry that identified the system deficiencies through criteria set by the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality and developed recommended improvements for the existing system.

Welch Comer Engineers assisted the city in receiving grant funds from both ICDBG and IDEQ. Welch Comer Engineers was then retained to provide design, construction phase services and grant management for this major capital improvement project.

The improvements included increased storage capacity, increased disinfection, increased pumping capacity, increased pressure to low pressure areas and increased distribution capacity.

KEY ELEMENTS

  • 200,000 gallon chlorine contact chamber for increased disinfection and chlorine contact time with a cast-in-place concrete tank
  • Booster station to increased system capacity
