Buckeye Sidewalk

Welch Comer helped the City of Millwood obtain funding for a sidewalk along Buckeye Avenue to connect two schools with ball fields and the commercial areas along Argonne Road. The project included widening the roadway, adding curb and swales, coordination with property owners on driveways, irrigation, and landscaping, and coordination with the school district on fencing, parking, and access at the soccer fields. An Avista high pressure gas line was also present and had to be accommodated in our design. Solar-powered flashing beacons were also installed on the school zone speed limit signs.

Widening Buckeye for angle parking at the soccer field solved an on-going congestion problem for the City and School District.
The existing road was very flat; therefore, draining runoff into the new swales was a challenge.
