North Government Way Reconstruction and Revitalization

Hayden, Idaho

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The City of Hayden had a vision of revitalizing a major portion of their downtown district.  Welch Comer took and an existing Federal Aid project that widened a two lane roadway to three lanes with curb, gutter and sidewalk and added several elements.  Through a successfully awarded Community Development Block Grant, a Local Improvement District, and additional City of Hayden funds, the downtown revitalization project was created.  This process is meant to revitalize the city's existing downtown into something more desirable to pedestrians and commerce activities.

Project development included a close working relationship with the Idaho Transportation Department, which administered the federal aid funds.  Much care was taken to track how different funds from different agencies were spent.
